Ron was born and raised in Worcester, MA and it was there that he met his wife, Phyllis (Cobb). They were married for 65 years, a fact that he was most proud of sharing, until Phyllis passed away in 2017. Their marriage was filled with love and devotion to one another and together, they served as role models for their family.
Ron enlisted in the air force at the age of 20, where he served as an airplane mechanic and the movie projectionist. After his 4 years in the service, he became a manager for Fimbel Garage Door Co. in Worcester, where he worked until his retirement. In his free time, Ron enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with his family and friends at the beach in Dennisport. Ron was also an avid Red Sox fan.
After retiring to Cape Cod and Florida, Ron and Phyllis enjoyed many years of traveling, especially on cruises that he would organize for his many friends in Thunderbird Park in Fort Myers, FL. He was very good with tools, projects, and repairs and was known for always being a helping hand to anyone in need. He was also instrumental in starting a three-generation family garage door business on Cape Cod.
In his later years, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, whether it was going on vacation to the Outer Banks, meeting the kids for dinner at Seafood Sams, or simply sitting on the deck and watching his great-grandchildren play. He felt very blessed to be able to attend all 7 of his grandchildren’s weddings and spend time with his 12 great-grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his son, Ron (Butch), and his wife, Mary Ann of East Sandwich, and his daughter, Debra and her husband, Larry Wood of Worcester. Ron, most affectionately known as “Pup,” will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and their spouses: Jason and Cara Dulmaine of East Sandwich, Jill and Patrick O’Brien of Plymouth, Sean and Palm Dulmaine of East Sandwich, Danielle and Patrick Welde of Berwyn, PA, Hannah and James Conley of Plymouth, Nicole and Kevin Burns of Worcester, and Katelyn and Sean Brien of Worcester. Pup will also be missed by each of his great-grandchildren.
Ron’s strength, sense of humor, smile (even during the most difficult times), and his simple ways of showing love and kindness are the legacy that he will leave all of us.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Corpus Christi Parish; 324 Quaker Meeting House Road East Sandwich, MA. Burial will immediately follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery; Bourne, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA of Cape Cod Hospice, an amazing group of people who offer an incredible service to both patients and their families.
