

Samantha Jean Peters-Monte, a resident of Sandwich, MA passed away at the age of 66 on February 10, 2026, due to congestive heart failure. Born in Waterbury, CT on October 6, 1959, she was the beloved daughter of Jean Peters (Birdsall) and the late William Peters.
Sam spent her youth in Waterbury alongside her sister, Jennifer. In her early 20’s, Sam moved to Cape Cod. Sam later began bartending at Sandy Neck Grill, where she met her future husband Ken (Porky) Monte. In 1994, Sam and Ken got married at Corpus Christi Church in Sandwich, MA.
Sam’s love and compassion for children led her back to school where she received an associate degree from Cape Cod Community College in Early Childhood Education. Sam used her education to nurture young children at Growing Investments. Sam spent several years at Growing Investments until deciding to be a stay-at-home mom. Once her daughters were grown, she returned to work at West Parish Family School, where she enjoyed spending her days working in pre-school classrooms.
In 2000, Sam and Ken welcomed their first adopted daughter from China, Jade. In 2002 Sam and Ken went back to China to adopt their second daughter MeiLi. Going to China to adopt Jade and MeiLi was the highlight of her life.
In her spare time, Sam enjoyed many activities. The beach was her favorite place to listen to the waves and feel the warm sand. She loved sitting with a good book and fruit salad to snack on. She also loved concerts, puzzles, gardening, and canal walks with Bella, their dog. Sam was also known for being a bit fearless when she went skydiving. She loved wearing sandals and hoodies for ultimate comfort. Sam had a sweet tooth for Italian ice and ice cream.
Sam will always be remembered for her bubbly and outgoing personality. She loved making memories by sharing jokes and laughing with those she cared for. Sam had a spirit of generosity and tenacity.
Sam is predeceased by her father, Bill Peters. She leaves behind her husband of 31 years, Ken Monte; her mother, Jean Peters; sister, Jennifer Peters; her daughters Jade and MeiLi Monte; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor her memory on March 8, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Sagamore, 1131 Route 6A, Bourne, MA 02561.
Sam’s legacy of kindness and dedication to her family and friends will live on in all who knew her.
