I was in the shower getting ready to go to Boston to give Sherry a reiki treatment. Meanwhile , David was sending one. When I got out of the shower he said, you don’t need to get ready. Then the phone rang…I miss my favorite pitcher and base stealer. . I was friends with sherry since 5 th grade and went to her house often. In high school our friendship was about sports. She never forgot and neither did I. I feel blessed to have known her

When we met again hat our 50th class reunion Sherry talked about how she remembered how could make her pitch smack into the glove so loud that the matter through she could throw a ball 100 mph and how i could pull the ball in to make it look like a strike we were the only girls on any softball team we played who could pull off a double steal We were on our way to Boston to give her a reiki treatment when we got the sad news

I'm so sorry to have heard of Miss Medeiros' passing. She was an excellent teacher. I was a Berkley middle school student of hers. She got me so interested in the sciences, from weather prediction to microbiology, to human and body health. Miss Medeiros always found a way to keep us interested and to keep looking deeper. When I recently heard this news, it brought so many happy memories. Please know, that she positively impacted so many lives. This was a better world with her in it.

We have so many fond memories of times spent with Sherry over the years. There were Super Bowl parties, basketball games, geocaching trips, shared meals, the Portugal trip, and many other good times, plus a few times some Portuguese words were uttered! We would often go with Sherry to watch women's golf tournaments. When a player left a putt short on the green, Sherry would mutter "hit the ball!" with disgust in her voice. That expression in our house has come to mean not giving it your all, and for us, Sherry always gave her all to her family, friends, and colleagues. We didn't see each other frequently, but when we got together it was as if no time had passed. She was that kind of friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Leigh, who more than anyone else, knows how much Sherry gave of herself. Sherry is loved and will be greatly missed.

Sherry was my hero in High School. I was struggling in Biology and she studied with me and volunteered to be my lab partner so I could pass. Admired her athletic gift. Later in life we crossed paths when I was Director of Pupil Personnel services at Bristol-Plymouth and she was Principal at Berkley Middle school. Sherry definitely left her mark in a very positive way. Thank you Sherry.

In '84' & '85' Ms. Medeiros was my 7th & 8th grade science teacher in Berkley. I will never forget her! She found a way to get me to see science in a way that made me love it! She also helped me believe that I really could understand and do better in the more challenging aspects of it. Understanding the kid to help them understand the material, the mark of an amazing teacher! I can only imagine the number of kids she helped throughout her career! My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Dear Leigh and Family,
So very sorry to hear this sad news. We shared many good times. Sherry was a kind, considerate friend and colleague. She will be missed. Rest In Peace, dear friend.

My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Leigh, your families and your friends at this difficult time.

Dear Leigh,

My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time.

We were neighbors and family friends during the 50s and 60s. Skating at the dam, softball in their backyard, chasing home runs into Bowen’s sheep pasture.
Summers she helped run the playground activities and always had a smile
Loved seeing the photos of John and Marie,,,,
I hadn’t kept up with the old days and the memories being a smile

We have so many happy memories of our time with Leigh and Sherry...those happy Carnival parades, lunch at Ross's and peaceful moments in their beautiful backyard. Rest in peace, Sherry. Our memories of you are a blessing

I met Sherri many years ago and she was a great lady. The best neighbor anyone could of had. I am heartbroken 💔 to hear this news.. Rest In Peace my friend.. 😢🙏🏼 Leigh I am so sorry for your loss.. if you need anything please let me know..💔🙏🏼

So very sorry to read of former classmate and school friend, Sherry’s passing. Sympathy and prayers to her wife, Leigh.

Words cannot possibly express how deeply saddened we are by the loss of Sherry. She was a wonderful, giving and feisty fun person.

One fine memory is of the time she learned that we had a bird strike in one of our windows. She came to our home within minutes with hawk decals to place on our windows to avoid future bird strikes. The hawks are are still soaring, just like Sherry’s soul is now.

There was also the time Leigh was away and we took Sherry to Tea Dance. She actually danced! She was smiling and proud of herself for getting out on the dance floor. We were proud of her too.

And of course we will miss the spontaneous and playful encounters we had with Sherry as a friend and neighbor. She always made time to stop and chat. She will be dearly missed.

Peace to Sherry and Leigh.

 Much love,
Susan Packard and Barbara Bennett

Thank you for sharing pictures from her adventures throughout life. Prayers and love to her family during this time.

So sorry to hear of the loss of such an amazing educator and leader in the Berkley Community. She pushed many to do more than even they expected. She was started my love of science that led me into my nursing career path.

Thank you Ms. Mederios I will never forget you ❤

Thank you to Sherry for being a wonderful influence on future men and women. I personally still remember a very important lesson Sherry gave me in being fair and treating others with respect when I was no more than 6 or 7. Small things she gave her students, like this, remain with each of us today.

She will always be an impactful educator, life skills teacher, administrator, and friend.

We all will miss you.

Such heartbreaking news. Although, I haven’t seen Sherry in many years, the impact she made on my childhood has been carried in my heart . Such fond memories at the south end playground playing softball. Many summer days the game was played behind her home. Sherry taught me fairness…I recall one memory clearly. I was far from the best player and as I got up to bat, a much better player asked for last raps…Sherry told him no…I believe I struck out, but that moment in time meant much more to me than striking out more then 55 years ago….Loved Sherry……RIP to one of my childhood heroes………….…Debra (Goulart) Fernandes

So sorry to hear of Sherry's passing. We had so much fun together at the Playground in Dighton. She inspired me to play softball. May God Bless you all and give you comfort at this most difficult time.

Dear Leigh and family members, my thoughts,
prayers and condolences go out to you. Sherry was an outstanding educator and a very good athlete in her own right. My wife Jackie, enjoyed working with Sherry and spoke fondly of her during their time together in Berkley. May Sherry find everlasting peace and comfort with the Lord.

RIP Ms Medeiros, you weren't just a principle all my years in Berkley school but someone who really cared and really tried to help me [I was not the easiest student] My mom and her knew each other by first name, so I couldn't get away with a lot... Thank you for being a great person in my adolescent life. You'll be missed!

So sorry to hear of her passing. Worked at Berkley Community School as her secretary for several years, she was a person who lived life to the fullest. I remember her as a true follower of the NY giants. My condolences to all her family?

I grew up with Sherry and her sister, Joyce. I remember Sherry as a kind and polite young girl growing up in Dighton in the 50s and 60s. Her family hosted many winter days and nights for all the kids ice skating on the dam with benches, hot chocolate and bon fires. They were fun and innocent times with all the kids in town, and I will remember her fondly.

I worked with Sherry for many years when she was at both Berkley Community and Berkley Middle Schools.
She was also the Director of Special Education for a year and I was her secretary.
She was a wonderful woman and friend. Although I haven't seen her in many year's, she will always hold a place in my heart.

God Bless You.

I had Sherri as my middle school science teacher! Later on in life as I had children, she encouraged me to get my teaching degree. I taught for nine years at the middle school as a special education teacher. It was her encouragement that led me to continue college on to getting my psychology degree. She believed in me and for that I had always cherished her. My deepest condolences to Leigh and the family. But know this and always remember, she is always by your side and truly has never left. She will forever live in the hearts of the students, forever in the laughter shared but mostly in the memories that we forever hold dear.

Sherry was my principal at Berkley Community School. She was the one who took a chance on me in becoming a first grade teacher. I will forever be grateful for her encouragement and support. I remember the phone call I received from Sherry after I played an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke on her. She had some choice words for me…all in good fun. My deepest condolences to Leigh and her family and friends.

To the first "Ms." I ever met...I can never put into words how much you influenced my life. As a shy adolescent you taught me to stand up for myself. And now I realize you were a recent college graduate yourself at the time. Your approach to teaching Science was new and exciting, fostering my lifelong desire to learn more about our wonderful world!
Thank you Ms. Medeiros...

I will always remember our trips to Johnson & Wales in our pursuit of our doctorate degrees. I am especially grateful that she did all the driving and maneuvered the traffic jams in the rain or shine skillfully in her little Mercedes. I will remember our time together and her positive support during those stressful days forever.
Rest in peace dear friend! You will always be remembered in my heart!

Sherry was a classmate and friend throughout our school years. When I think of Sherry, the qualities of strength, wisdom, athleticism, fair play, fun, and kindness come to mind. Loved seeing her at our 50th DR reunion!

I will always cherish the time I spent with Sherry, working together as a team. She so enjoyed playing good cop, bad cop with non compliant students. She would always enjoy presiding over my impeachment trials, especially when I was found guilty.
Golfing together in our golf league at Middlebook and our yearly matches at Montaup were a barrel of laughs.
I so enjoyed our recent conversations and both of us trying to be so upbeat for each other.
No more pain, suffering, and anxiety. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace my sister. ❤️
