Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Dr. James and Priscilla Feltman on July 16, 1948. He grew up in New Jersey, attended Boston College and graduated from Boston University with degrees in teaching and Geology. He taught Earth Science in Wilmington and Newton, and also worked as a geologist for a geotechnical engineering firm, involved with siting for the Big Dig.
He married Angela Araujo in 1979, and they and their two children moved into their antique home on Main Street in Sandwich in 1989. They established their business, Heart of Stone, in their home, later moving to the 6A location where it is today.
Bill loved golf, rocks, the Dodgers (even after they moved to Los Angeles), Star Trek, horror movies and westerns. But most of all he loved fireworks, and loved setting off extravagant (if not entirely legal) displays on Town Neck Beach every 4th of July, to the delight of his family, friends, and friends of friends who’d cheer on Uncle Bill and Team Feltman well into the night.
He also loved palm trees and Florida, and moved to Vero Beach in 2013. He very much enjoyed living at the Isles of Vero Beach, where he became friends with many of the residents and loved walking their dogs.
He leaves his son, William Hopkins Feltman of Dennis, a daughter, Julie Angelica Feltman of Brooklyn, New York, a brother Richard Andrews Feltman of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, his cousins, Cinda Yaremo, Priscilla Rodney and Ross Savage and their families, and his former wife, Angela Feltman of Gray Gables. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Feltman.
A memorial will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, at the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A in Sandwich, Massachusetts from 4pm until 7pm. In lieu of flowers, sneak a couple of table scraps to your favorite dog, and think of Bill.
