After his discharge from the Marines he began a lifelong career in the automotive dealership industry. Soon after his marriage to Jean in 1953 he entered General Motors Institute. Upon graduation he worked his way up in the dealership business until the opportunity to start his own dealership arose. Bugle Buick in Taunton led to his move to Cape Cod and the creation of Puritan Buick, Pontiac, Isuzu and GMC Truck. The growth and success of these ventures was his pride and the reward for his hard work and a life well lived.
One of Bill's great pleasures was spending time on his boat, the Tunanut, fishing with friends and family.

He was a beloved father-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle to many members of his extended Gile and Paulson families.
