Albert Cameron, known as “Bill” to his family and friends, went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2025, at the age of 94. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who lived a life of service, love, and commitment.
Born in Pickens County, Alabama, on June 25, 1931, to Columbus and Annie Lou Cameron, Bill grew up with a strong sense of community, hard work, and civic duty. He was a child during the Great Depression and contributed to the hard work of the family farm from a very young age. After graduating from high school, he worked with the Alabama Highway Department before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on October 22, 1951. Bill proudly served in Korea during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following the war, he had the opportunity to travel through Europe and Japan after having never left the state of Alabama prior to joining the Marines.
Influenced by his older brothers, Bill, “on a whim”, enrolled in Auburn University, taking advantage of the GI Bill. He graduated in 1957 with a degree in Industrial Management. Soon after, he began his long and successful career as a management consultant with Kurt Salmon Associates in the apparel industry, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring.
In August 1965, Bill married Carolyn Ochs of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Together, they built a beautiful life in Atlanta, Georgia, where they raised two sons, Chuck and Bruce. Their marriage of 58 years was a testament to their love and dedication to one another, until Carolyn's passing in 2023.
Even in semi-retirement, Bill continued to stay active, managing an automated manufacturing lab at Southern Technical College in Marietta, Georgia, teaching apparel technology courses, and occasionally offering his expertise as a manufacturing consultant. He also devoted much of his time to his passions—gardening, fishing, and spending time with his Sunday School community. He was a faithful volunteer with the Gideon's Ministry, where he touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.
Mr. Cameron is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Audra Cameron, Bruce and Julie Cameron, and grandchildren, Kaleb, Ashton, Asher, Reid, Ava Cate, and Annalise.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park at 2 p.m. on March 16, 2025. Following the graveside service, the family will host a visitation reception from 3-5 p.m. located at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd. NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon’s Ministry.
