Born on January 17, 1933 in Franklin, North Carolina, Alfred was the son of Alfred and Ann Higdon. Alfred greatly enjoyed growing up in Franklin with his siblings and friends.
After graduation from Franklin High School, he answered the call of duty and proudly served in the Navy. Following his service, he earned a degree in Mathematics from Western Carolina University.
Alfred worked in Atlanta, Georgia for Western Electric then Lucent until retirement.
In 1968 he married Ann Mitchell Higdon. They were married for 57 years until her passing in January 2026.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents Ann and Alfred Higdon, siblings, John Crawford (Dot), Julia Green (Livingston), and Tom. Alfred is survived by daughter Elizabeth Harrison (David), sister Beverly Moore, and sister-in-law Trish. Alfred leaves behind many adored nieces and nephews.
