Years ago when asked what he wanted on his grave stone, Andy answered "He loved the Lord". On November 11, 2013 he went into the arms of the Lord he loved so much. Andrew Coleman Schraut Hobbs was born on March 19, 1937 to Maurice Bate Hobbs and Dorothy Maria Schraut. A native Atlantan, he was educated at E Rivers School, was graduated from Marist College on Ivy Street in Atlanta in 1955, and attended Vanderbilt University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He was employed over 30 years at American Banknote Company and he worked in New York for 17 years until returning home to open the Atlanta office in 1987. While he had a long and successful career, that did not define who he was. He was a caring man who was very generous in the things that mattered. He gave abundantly to other people of his time, talents, patience, love, guidance and humor. He gave of all of the things that show how much he cherished them. He always kept a positive attitude and was ready for any challenge. He was a Scout Master, Vestry Member, taught Sunday School, loved helping with VBS, and for over twenty years visited prisoners weekly to share the love of God. He was a man of integrity who never sought praise and never spoke ill of others. He did not care what others thought of him, but only sought to glorify God in what he did. He was a loving father to his three children and loved his step daughter as his own. He often spoke openly about his love for his bride of 25 years and she shared a mutual devotion. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Miriam, his two sons Cole Hobbs (Amy) of Park City, UT, and Rankin Hobbs (LuAnne) of Dallas; his daughter Elizabeth Mackie of Cary NC; and step daughter Laurie Ereddia of Kennesaw; and beloved grandchildren Wynne, Rankin Jr., Trevor, Travis, Zachary, Gretchen, Bridget, Grant, Danielle and Andrew. He is also survived by brothers Cliff Hobbs (Jackie) and Bate Hobbs (Nancy) and sister Bess Lord (Neil), and many nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held at Arlington Cemetery. A Receiving will be held at Church of the Apostles, 3585 Northside Parkway, Atlanta, GA at 1 PM on November 14, with a Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Andrew C Hobbs following at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Church of Apostles Children's Ministry, 3585 Northside Pkwy, NW, Atlanta, GA 30327, Leading the Way, PO Box 20100, Atlanta, GA 30325 or the American Heart Association .
