Ann Chapman Brown, 85, born October 26, 1939 in Hartsville, South Carolina to the late Howard and Bessie Chapman, died peacefully early July 21, 2025. She was deeply devoted to her family and loved each of us unconditionally and exactly the way we needed. Her cause of death was a long, full happy life.
For Ann, life was a series of family celebrations waiting to be planned--holidays, beach trips, birthdays, road trips and U.G.A football games. Some of her favorite sayings that we hold tight to are "This too shall pass" and "a stranger was just a future friend in the making." She left this writing on her desk and asked us to include it in her obituary: "Life is an occasion, rise to it. Don't be sad because I'm gone. Be happy, because I lived. I had a wonderful life! I cannot think of anything I could've added to make it ANY better."
Ann attended Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts double degree in psychology and sociology. She moved to Atlanta where she was a child advocate in Fulton County. She met her husband, Ronald N. Brown Sr, in Buckhead in 1960. They were married in 1961 and had 47 amazing years together before his death in 2008. Ann is survived by her children Ronald Brown, Jr, Mark Brown (spouse-Shawn Brown), Bess Brown and her two grandchildren Sadie Brown and Cameron Brown. She also leaves many loving cousins behind.
The funeral will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 1:00pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, N.E., Sandy Springs, Ga., 30328. A nicheside service will follow in Arlington Memorial Park, where Ann will be brought together physically with her true love, Ronnie Brown.
