She was born on January 20, 1923, in Atlanta, to Ray S Leonard and Kate Campbell Leonard. Ann worked as a second grade school teacher, taught pre-school at Saint Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church, where she also worshiped as a stout Episcopalian member, and served as a volunteer leader for her group of Camp Fire Girls. She is remembered for her love of gardening, as she held membership in the Sandy Springs Garden Club, Huntcliff Garden Club, and the Garden Club of Georgia-Dogwood District. She was also a member of the Atlanta Historical Society. She was lovingly referred to by many as “Turbo Mama”, which acknowledged her busy life and high-speed personality. She is survived by her son, Frank “Ellis” Edwards, Jr., and her daughter Susan “Sue” K. Edwards. Family, friends, and others are invited to H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 on Monday, February 3, 2025 for a visitation at 11 o’clock followed by a funeral service at 12 o’clock, to reminisce and honor the life of Ann “Turbo Mama” Edwards.
