

Ann Martin McCalley died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on June 6, 2017. She was born Sept. 14, 1937 to J.L. and Grace Gunnin of East Point, Ga. J.L. was killed in an accident a month before she was born. They had two sons, Jimmy age 4 and Terry age 2. At age 2, Ann was adopted by her loving and wonderful parents Lois and B.A. Martin of Atlanta who gave her a wonderfully happy childhood.
She graduated from the Westminster Schools in 1955, attended Converse College and graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1959. She married and had four children, Mary Lois, Jay, Martin and Elizabeth Hare. She divorced in 1976. Two years later, mutual friends reintroduced Ann to Raymond McCalley. Ann and Raymond were friends in High School and college and after reintroduction in 1979 she married her loving husband Raymond and fully enjoyed their 38 years together.
In the mid-eighties, Ann was thrilled to be reunited with her birth family that included her two brothers and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The Gunnins were a large and loving family that had always wanted to find her. Ann felt blessed to come from two wonderful families.
Ann loved her family, friends, her bridge club of more than 50 years, travel, and crafting. Laughter was one of her greatest pleasures. She loved to tell stories and enjoyed and excelled at making people laugh.
Predeceased was her son Martin Hare, she was survived by her wonderful husband Raymond McCalley, children, Mary Lois (Eamonn), Jay (Susie) and Elizabeth Smith, Calla McCalley Noyes (Reed), Grandchildren, Emma and Jamie Hare, Jessica and Lindsey Smith, Austin, Henry and Virginia Noyes, great-grand daughters, Jayde Smith and Hannah Roegge.
Her service will be Monday, June 12, 2:30 pm, H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 with a visitation to follow.
