

Ashton C. Ducatel, Jr. passed away on May 16, 2014 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Irene Masson Ducatel, in 2002. He was the son of the late Ashton Ducatel, Sr. and Vera Benson Ducatel of New Orleans, LA. Ashton is survived by his four children, Dan and (Pam) Ducatel and Beth and (Tim) Castagna, and three grandchildren Brittney and Blake Ducatel and Shelby Castagna. He is also survived by a sister, Madeline Miller of New Orleans, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by sisters Vera Burckel, and Jean Audibert. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served aboard ship in the Pacific until his discharge in 1946. After the war he attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA., and evening classes at Tulane University while returning to his job at the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1953 he was employed by the EKCO Group, Inc. and moved to Atlanta in 1965. He traveled the Southeast Region until his retirement in 1992 after 39 years in the Sales field. Ashton was a product of the “Greatest Generation” as he was loving, loyal, pragmatic, patriotic, and above all…a true “Southern Gentlemen.” He was extremely proud of and dearly loved his children and grandchildren, and attended most of their school and athletic events, of which there were many, as his grandchildren were active in sports during their early years, high school and college years. Visitation Services will be held at the H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel in Sandy Springs on Thursday, May 22nd from 6pm to 7:30pm with a Rosary starting at 7:30pm. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1pm at All Saints Catholic Church on Friday, May 23rd located at 2443 Mt Vernon Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338. In lieu of flowers; donations can be made in Ashton’s name to the American Cancer Society.
