Barbara Ertel Black of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on December 1, 2025, at the age of 82. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s eight years ago, yet throughout her journey she never lost her sense of humor or her beautiful ability to light up every room she entered. Everyone who passed by her wanted to stop, see her smile, and share a moment with her.
Barbara was born in Denver, Colorado but spent her adult life in Atlanta. She devoted her career to helping others as a speech therapist and resource teacher at St. Jude the Apostle Church for 26 rewarding years. She loved crafting, spending time with her grandchildren, and taking beach trips with her beloved girlfriends.
Barbara is survived in death by her sons, Jeffrey Douglas and Jeremy James. Grandchildren Cameron, Charlie, Parker, Miller and daughter-in-law Lauren Farley Black.
Barbara’s warmth, laughter, and kindness touched all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
We will celebrate her life with services at St. Jude the Apostle Church located at 705 Spalding Drive Atlanta, GA 30328 January 8, 2026 at 10 AM.
