Barry A. Bishop

Barry Alexander Bishop, age 56 of Yucca Valley, California and Waleska, Georgia passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Erma Bishop of Woodbury, Georgia. He is survived by partner, Tony Thacker of Yucca Valley and Waleska, and many friends in Atlanta and California. Survivors also include friends and relatives in Meriwether County, Georgia. Barry was an RN and a graduate of Georgia State University. He worked at Piedmont Hospital for many years and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Atlanta. He made many human friends wherever he went, but his passion was any animal (pet or wild; land or sea) and especially his pets, including Chloe, Rhett and Roxy. Appreciation is extended to UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Joel Rosenstock and staff at Absolute Care in Atlanta and VITAS Hospice in Atlanta. A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th from six until eight o’clock at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs. Barry request was to be cremated and no funeral services will be held. Contributions in memory of Barry’s friendship and spirit can be made to any no-kill animal shelter, to MarineMammalCenter.org, the Greenpeace Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
