Bert B. Hene Jr.

Bert B. “Bud” Hene, Jr., 85, of Sandy Springs, died August 3, 2012. Mr. Hene was originally from Omaha, NE and came to Atlanta to work for Leon Frohsin Shoppe, Inc. where he eventually became president. He attended the University of Nebraska and had served in the U.S. Navy. After his career with Leon Frohsin, Bud marketed real estate products. Over the past five years he was an active volunteer with The Shepherd Center. Mr. Hene is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia K. “Patty” Hene; sons, Bert B. Hene, III (Trudy), Paul Hene (Susan), Henry Hene (Candy); his sons’ mother, Sara D. Hene; children, Anne Foster, Colleen Hannah (John), James “Gil” Gilmore (Mary), Kathy Stratton (Todd); 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Elinor Couric; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Shepherd Center Foundation, 2020 Peachtree Rd, NW, Atlanta, GA 30309-1465. Funeral services will be Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11 o’clock at Crest Lawn Memorial Park where entombment will follow. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
