Betty Ivey Saladna of Marietta, GA, youngest child of George Hoyle Ivey and Lillie Mae Nash, passed away after a long illness with Alzheimer’s. A great woman has been called home. She wasn’t a world leader or famous celebrity. She didn’t own evening gowns, nor opt for expensive restaurants. She was one of the greatest women to ever live. She was our mother. You could say she was a woman who wasn’t interested in receiving honors. She did corny things like pay her bills on time and babysit her grandkids.
She enjoyed cooking wonderful meals to bring the family together and was an avid gardener. She really got a kick out of playing cards and even taking on a game of blackjack with zeal. Mom enjoyed simple pleasures like TV, an occasional trip, keeping a tidy home and people.
She had a rare gift of wisdom based on common sense. She gave us our meaningful foundation with God along with the value of hard work to provide for our families, setting rules and disciplining us, even though it was toughest for her. We are thankful that she was ours for 93 years and it was a great privilege to be her children.
She leaves behind four children, Ann (Juan) Salleras, John (Lori) Saladna, Teresa (Mike) Anderson and Bob (Jenny) Saladna, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at H.M. Patterson and Son- Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd. NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, on Tuesday, August 18 from 10:00-11:00 followed by a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy.,Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
