Brent was born on October 28, 1961 in Windsor, Missouri. He graduated from Fairborn Baker High School (Fairborn, Ohio) in 1980. Brent then attended the University of Cincinnati where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1985. While at Cincinnati, he was a member of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. Brent went on to further his education at Vanderbilt University - Owen Graduate School of Management where he earned his Masters of Business Administration in 1988. Following his education, Brent relocated to Atlanta to begin his career in the finance industry. He retired from the state of Georgia after twenty-three years as the Chief of Technology Officer -Division of Investment Services Teachers Retirement System Employees’ Retirement System.
Brent enjoyed traveling, cooking & baking, strategic games, Lego building, and was an avid Star Trek fan. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and unconditional love especially when it came to his husband, family, friends and beloved dogs, Oskar and Penny. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Brent is survived by his husband of 15 years, Tony Chaffin; parents, Howard and Anita Phillips; sister, Natalie Reeser (Kerry); niece and Goddaughter, Mackenzie Conaboy (Graham); and nephew, Logan Mills.
