Brett A. Sunderland

Brett A. Sunderland, 60 of Cumming died after a battle with Cancer on January 28, 2016. Mr. Sunderland was a graduate of Ridgeview High School and Clemson University where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Pre Architecture and a Masters of Architecture. As an architect he was a partner with PVS Architecture. He was a charter member of The Atlanta High Museum of Art and an active volunteer with The Georgia Aquarium. He was a passionate SCUBA diver his entire life and enjoyed many wonderful dive adventures around the world with family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Pat Sunderland; father and step-mother, Bill and Gina Sunderland; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Henry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andy and Jolee Sunderland, Dave and Sandy Sunderland, Barry and Terri Sunderland, Bie and Judee Sunderland, Holden and Caroline Hayes, Dr. Trey and Leah Hayes; brother, Marty Reid; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Brett Sunderland Manta Ray Fund at The Georgia Aquarium, www.georgiaaquarium.org/support. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral services will be Friday, February 5, 2016 at 11 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
