Carole Ann Simmons (nee Kovacs) passed away peacefully at her Atlanta residence on Monday, September 28, 2015. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter B. Simmons, and her adoring parents, Andrew and Helen Kovacs of Newark, New Jersey. Carole attended high school and secretarial college in New Jersey before moving to New York City where she was employed by Merrill Lynch Investments. Here, Carole met and married her husband Walter in 1979. Carole and Walter relocated to Atlanta in the early 1980s where Carole spent much of her time volunteering at the Atlanta History Center. She was a longtime donor to the arts in both Atlanta and Highlands, NC. Carole loved good food and socializing, enjoying going to the movies and art openings with friends, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends. A funeral mass and reception for family and friends will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 2, at The Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. Interment follows at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, GA.
