Lt. Col Chancel T. French, USAF (Ret) of Atlanta formerly of Montgomery, Alabama died October 15th, 2016. He was 79. French served in the Electronic Security Command in Scotland, Turkey, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Germany and Greece during his 34 year career. He was inducted into the Hall of Honor for the USADAA/ESC in 1990 and his plaque hanging in the Hall of Honor carries the inscription “A legend in his time, a linguist, staff and ops officer, teacher and commander.” He also founded the ESC Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his wife Cascille French, son John Chancel French, father Chancel Eugene French, and brother William Joseph French. Survivors include his step-daughter, Sue Harmon; granddaughter, Gina Dodson (Brent); great grandsons, Jared, Erik and Ryan Dodson; mother Dr. Ellen Merritt Brown French; and brothers David, Samuel and Gordon French. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Graveside service will be Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11 o’clock at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.
