Charles Lafayette Dickson, Jr., 90 of Dunwoody, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2019. Mr. Dickson was born on October 28, 1928 in Chattanooga, TN and was the son of the late Charles Lafayette Dickson, Sr. and Joseph Hand Dickson. He graduated from Boys High School in 1946 and from Emory University on 1950. Mr. Dickson then started his graduate work at Tenth Street Technical School (GA Tech) in computer science. In 1953, Charles married Helen Heath at the Emory University Chapel. Mr. Dickson was also a veteran of the United States Coast guard and served in Korea. He had a career in computer systems and retired from Munford, Inc. Charles then went to work for Georgia Institute of Technology (GTRA) before taking a second retirement. Mr. Dickson is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Heath Dickson; sons, Charles Lafayette Dickson, III, Christopher Laffitte Dickson (Carrie); grandchildren, Claire Dickson, Garrett Dickson and Audrey Dickson. A memorial service will be Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2 o’clock in the chapel at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church.
