Chad lived with joy secure in his faith in Christ Jesus.
Charlie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in the suburb of Wyoming to Robert and Marjorie Woodworth Zimmerman on October 26, 1949. He joined an older brother, Thomas Harvey. Charlie enjoyed an idyllic childhood attending Wyoming Schools, participating in Boy Scouts, competitive baseball, tennis, swimming, and playing trumpet in a dance band. Charlie became Chad at Florida Presbyterian College (now Eckerd College) in St. Petersburg, Fl where he played two years of baseball and two years of tennis graduating in 1971. Continuing his education Chad went to University of North Carolina Business School receiving his MBA in 1973. Chad enjoyed a year working with Sea Pines Company in Hilton Head, SC before moving to Atlanta in 1974 and working with Citizens and Southern Bank as a young officer in Corporate Banking. Chad continued to work in commercial banking until the late 1990's. In 1998 he studied and worked to receive his Certified Financial Planning Credentials and began working with SignatureFD as a Financial Advisor. Chad had a passion for helping his clients that became friends live well and purposefully. He considered these years the best of his career and postponed retirement until after his 70th Birthday. Chad enjoyed volunteering to teach Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Classes to all age groups and especially young people to give them the tools and understanding in regard to money management.
Chad met Anne Barnett in Atlanta in late 1974, enjoyed a courtship, and they married on February 26, 1977 in Anne's hometown, Monroeville, Al. They have two daughters, Katherine (Katy) married to Matthew Sandiford, sons Asher, 11, and Charlie ,9, Elizabeth ( Betsy) married to Blake Jorgensen, son James, 4. Anne called Chad her " renaissance man" because he embraced learning, appreciating classical music and loving rock 'n roll, speaking French and attempting to learn Spanish, building furniture in a workshop that he created, enjoying the outdoors and participating in all the fun that nature provides hiking, biking, etc. Anne and Chad's mutual love of adventure is among the connections that brought them together and they accepted every opportunity that presented travel and new experiences.
Their involvement in Friendship Force in the late 1970's and early 80's allowed them to host people from other countries, visit their home country and experience their culture and become lifelong friends.
In the late 1970's Chad accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and he embarked upon his faith journey that continued the remainder of his life. Together Chad and Anne had a "mountaintop" experience and became a part of a small group that after 44 years continues to meet together to pursue God's desires for our lives. Chad attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Chad was currently involved in Orchard Men's Bible Study and Anchor Sunday School Class at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. One of Chad's most rewarding achievements was serving on the founding board of Whitefield Academy, a Christian School, in metro Atlanta.
Chad is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anne, daughter, Katherine and Matthew Sandiford, their sons, Asher and Charlie, daughter Betsy and Blake Jorgensen, their son James.
