Charlotte Dison Harp of Atlanta died unexpectedly on February 7th, 2017 after a brief illness. Born on Halloween in 1934 in Fairfax, Alabama, Charlotte grew up in Smyrna, GA. After graduating from Smyrna High School, she attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and met her future husband of 51 years, Bill Harp. She and Bill settled in Atlanta, where Bill maintained an active law practice and Charlotte stayed busy raising her two daughters, volunteering, creating original arts and crafts, and developing life-long friendships. As a talented seamstress with an entrepreneurial spirit, she started a specialty clothing business, Down South Originals, with her dear friend, Jane Webb. She served as president of the Lovett School Mother's Club and later became a successful realtor with Harry Norman where she was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club and recipient of the Phoenix Award. Charlotte preferred to sit in a lounge chair with a good book and a Tab, but joined Bill in more active endeavors including sailing trips, bike rides across Georgia (on the van) and car racing with the Porsche Club. She later discovered her talent for painting and relished her role as "Grancie" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her Southern charm, sharp wit, and fierce loyalty and love for her family and friends. Charlotte was a member of Christ Church, Atlanta. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, and is survived by her daughters Alison LeCraw (Chuck) and Hilary Harp (Michael Schwarz), her sister-in-law, Lucy Blackwell (Ceylon), her grandchildren Megan Beard (Nick), Melissa Strain (Ross), Ali LeCraw Smith (Mark), Will LeCraw, and Celia Schwarz, her great-grandchildren, Savannah, Nicklaus, Elysa and Austin, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 12th at 2 p.m. at Patterson's Arlington Chapel, Sandy Springs, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Church Building Fund, P.O Box 76320, Atlanta, GA 30358 or the charity of your choice.
