Born in Rochester, NY Cindy spent the majority of her life in the Dunwoody area. She loved her friends, tennis, knitting and Dunwoody United Methodist Church.
Our mom was one of the strongest people we knew. Her first battle with cancer began in 2004 with the diagnosis of breast cancer. The news of her first grandchild gave her the strength to fight and eventually overcome the disease.
Another source of great strength for Mom came from her passion for tennis and the friends she made as a result. Her love of tennis began in her 40s and continued for the remainder of life. After her cancer diagnosis, one of her biggest goals was to get back on the tennis court. So much so she even wore her chemo bag while playing. Nothing was going to stop her from the courts. When she could no longer play, she was still involved by being the team captain for countless years even during the toughest of times. We truly believe tennis is what kept her going. If you knew Cindy, you knew her love of Federer! She could not have made it through all the difficult years of treatment without the support of her tennis friends.
Her favorite pastime was knitting. It was a source of great comfort and peace for her. Despite the chemo treatments affecting her hands greatly, she kept on. Years before her diagnoses she was knitting chemo caps for those in treatment.
Cindy loved her grandson Nathan and was so very proud of him. Her heart will forever live on in him.
Cindy adored animals and animal rights. To keep Mom company, Steph let mom keep Parker as her buddy for many years. We think she would love, in lieu of flowers to send donations to the ASPCA. https://secure.aspca.org/donate/memorial.
Mrs. Pardue was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Donald B. Pardue, Jr. and is survived by her daughters, Tracy Brener (Robert), Stephanie Pardue; grandson, Nathan Brener, granddog Parker; sister, Susie Roddenberry (Robert); brothers, Steve McDonald (Marcia), Jeff McDonald (Linda) and Billy McDonald (Linda). A memorial service will take place at a later date.
