Born and raised in the village of St. Jude in St. George, Barbados, Colin Vere was called to the ministry at a young age and was ordained in the Anglican (Episcopal) Church in 1955. Over nearly 45 years, his ministry focused on mission work, outreach, campus ministry, and he served various parishes in Guyana, Barbados, New York, Georgia and Ohio. He retired in 1999 and moved to the Atlanta area in 2011 with his wife to be closer to family.
Colin enjoyed traveling and remained a fan of his childhood favorite sports, cricket and soccer. An avid reader, he also found fulfillment in writing about various spiritual themes. Friends and family will fondly remember that he often had a tune (usually hymns) to whistle or hum. He dearly loved his family; he was proud of his children's accomplishments and was always delighted to spend time with his grandchildren.
Rev. Barrow is survived by his wife of 44 years, Winsome Barrow; children, Hugo Barrow (Ingrid), Mary Blackett (Maurice), David Barrow (Tricia), Ardith Barrow; grandchildren, Kimberley Blackett, Jason Blackett, Neville Barrow; brother, Nigel Barrow; sister, Pam Bazin (Fritz); and former spouse, Leila Barrow; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family.
