

Captain Creigh W. Taylor, Jr., 86, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, died on April 10th, 2013. He was born in Macon, Georgia on September 3rd, 1926, to Maude P. Taylor and Creigh W. Taylor, Sr. He attended Emory University in Atlanta and graduated from the University of Miami. He joined the US Navy as an Aviator in 1944 and spent 22 ½ years proudly serving his country retiring at the rank of Commander from the US Navy Reserves. Delta Airlines was his next calling, and he spent a fantastic 35 years following his dream. In his lifetime, the happiest times for him were the days that he spent in the left seat of any aircraft that he flew. In retirement, he hung up his wings and found his second passion, playing golf. For 37 years, he was a faithful communicant of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church. As a product of the “Greatest Generation,” he was loving, loyal, pragmatic, patriotic and, above all… a true “Southern Gentleman.” Captain Taylor is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria Taylor, his son, Jason Taylor and his wife Jennifer Taylor, Brother-in-law, Candler Meadors of Athens, Ga., Brother-in-law, Wiley Montague of Cumming, Ga., a host of nieces and nephews and numerous golfing buddies. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 16th, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, 805 Mt. Vernon Hwy, N.W., Sandy Springs, Ga. 30327. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church or The American Red Cross.
