
Dr. D. B. Adams, a respected clinical psychologist whose Atlanta practice served more than ten thousand patients, passed away leaving behind a legacy of compassion, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering dedication to those in his care.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Adams was recognized for his contributions to the field of psychology. He was a Fellow of the Academy of Clinical Psychology, a Life Fellow of the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, and a Life Fellow of the American Psychological Association. He was also honored as a Distinguished Practitioner Emeritus of the National Academies of Practice in Psychology. These distinctions reflect the high regard in which he was held by colleagues and the many lives he touched through his work.
Dr. Adams was known for his dry wit, his passion for music, and his enthusiasm for sports cars. His interests ranged from Harley-Davidson motorcycles to unique guitars, each pursued with the same curiosity and joy that shaped his approach to life. He also had a lifelong soft spot for animals and instilled in his children a shared commitment to animal rescue and compassionate care for all creatures.
Above all, Dr. Adams was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Alice Adams; his children Emily Adams, Taylor Dockter and her husband Rainge Dockter, Payton Adams and her husband Khai Atwi, and Grayson Adams; and his sister Marcia Cremer. He delighted in supporting his children’s aspirations, celebrating their individuality, and encouraging them in every endeavor.
He will be remembered for his humor, his love of learning, and his steadfast commitment to the people he loved. His presence brought warmth, insight, and laughter to all who knew him.
A graveside celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Papayago Parrot Rescue in Acworth, Georgia.
