Dirk E. Zeiters, age 78 passed away at his home in Dunwoody, Georgia on April 12th. Born in Ohio to Raymon and Edith Zeiters, Dirk’s father was killed in an accident when Dirk was five years old. Dirk put himself through The Ohio State University working at several jobs in the athletic department, most notably, Dirk was the equipment manager under Woody Hayes. Dirk received an MBA from The Fisher College of Business of The Ohio State University in 1962. During the time he was in school, Dirk resided with his sister and her family in Columbus. His family describes Dirk as a quiet, compassionate and caring person. They have fond memories of those years. Throughout his life, Dirk was a great sports enthusiast. He especially loved his Ohio State Buckeyes, traveling to Columbus to see their games. He loved the Atlanta Braves and was for many years a season ticket holder, taking MARTA to each game.
Dirk started a data processing business providing services for the auto industry and later the business was acquired by what was then known as Automated Data Processing, later to become ADP Dealer Services. He was a tremendous asset to the leadership of ADP Dealer Services. In business as in life Dirk was innovative, compassionate and always looking to help others up the ladder.
Giving back to his Alma Mater to help other students was very important to Dirk. Dirk and Lois Jean generously gave to various funds at the Fisher School of Business at The Ohio State University including the Dirk Zeiters’ Innovation Fund and the Dirk and Lois Zeiters Endowed Fund for the Greatest.
Dirk leaves his wife of 54 years, Lois Jean, his daughter Amy Zeiters of Bradenton Florida, a grandson Ryan and a granddaughter, Samantha. His sister, Shirley Bulkley of Fredericksburg, Virginia, nieces Lynn Wearsch (Gary) and Laura Higgins (Mitch) and nephew Ward Bulkley (Sylvia) will miss him dearly. Dirk was well loved and cared for by his daily caregivers: Sharon, Obie, Regina, Winnie,Lisa, Felicia and Steven.
A Memorial Service for Dirk will be held on Thursday, May 16th at H.M. Patterson Arlington Memorial Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs at 11am with a reception immediately following the service.
