Dixie M. Gee

Dixie Miller Gee of Sandy Springs, a native Atlantan, passed away on August 5, 2014 at Arbor Terrace of East Cobb. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, J. Forrest Gee and her great- granddaughter Charlotte Anne Haslam. Dixie was born on November 26, 1919 in Atlanta to parents, Georgia Hurt Miller and Raymond John Miller. She is survived by her son John (Jack) Forrest Gee, III and his wife Anne of Sandy Springs, granddaughter Laura Gee Haslam and her husband John and her great-granddaughters Claire and Brooke Haslam of Savannah, GA. Dixie enjoyed doing needlework and produced many beautiful works of art through the years. She along with Forrest spent memorable times traveling to various destinations, but the favorites remained Carmel, CA and Hong Kong. A lifelong Georgia Tech fan, she spent many Saturdays rooting for the Yellow Jackets. After graduating from Girls High School in Atlanta, she worked for AT&T for over 40 years including those as an executive secretary and was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She always said she enjoyed every minute of her employment of that service. She loved the Lord and her church along with the many friends she made along the way, both at Wieuca Road Baptist and Gordon Street Baptist. Among her favorite years were those of leading young people through opportunities within Baptist Training Union groups. The family would especially like to thank special caregivers who cared for Dixie during the last three years including Elaine Ranson, Arbor Terrace of East Cobb, and Gentiva Hospice. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11 at 11 a.m at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road in Sandy Springs and burial following at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy. There will be a visitation on Sunday, August 10 from 3-5 p.m. also at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel.
