

Donald Gay Duncan died on Monday, December 19, 2016 in Jasper, Georgia. Born on December 23, 1933, he was the son of George Luther Duncan, Jr. and Evelyn Gay Duncan. He attended North Fulton High School in Atlanta and the Georgia Military Academy. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a helicopter Crew Chief in the Korean War. Don married Harriette Butler in 1959. They have three sons, Donald G. Duncan, Jr. (deceased), John Luther Duncan and George Alexander Duncan. Don worked for John H. Harland Company and Peachtree Printing, Inc. He served on the Board of Directors of the Printing Association of Georgia. He was active in the Northside Youth Organization where he coached baseball and football teams and served as a member of the NYO Board of Directors. Don was a member of Kiwanis Club and Peachtree Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board of Deacons and taught Sunday School. He retired to Ellijay, Georgia and became involved in the community there. A Mason, Don was a member of the Master Lodge of Decatur and he joined his wife in her Eastern Star Activities in Ellijay. Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Harriette; uncle, Frank D. Duncan; son, Jack, daughter-in-law, Sherri and their children, Rachelle, Austin, and Ashley; son, George, daughter-in-law, Lisa and their daughters, Hannah, and Ella. Don loved his family and was a special grandfather. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 23rd at two o’clock at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Friday, December 23rd from one o’clock until the hour of service at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
