Doris B. Dupre, 93, of Fayetteville, died March 29, 2021. Mrs. Dupre was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Lawrence Joseph Dupre and son, Lawrence Joseph “Joey” Dupre, Jr, and sisters LeeDelle Wilson and Joann Driscoll. She is survived by her daughters Debi Christens (John), Cindy Heaton (Alan), and Lisa Heady (Gene), all residing in the Atlanta metro area; grandchildren Brian Christens, Daniel Christens (Rachel), Melody Casiano (Nik), Kara Alcazar (Orlando), Sean Bradley (Kara), Megan Wade (Clint), Joey Whyte and Jake Whyte; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Jesse Brasher, Jimmy Brasher; sisters Mary Ruth Parker, Donna Smith and Judy Hayes; as well as numerous extended family members.
Doris was born in Laurel, Mississippi in 1928 to Jesse W Brasher and VonDelle Glisson Brasher. During World War ll Doris left, after studying for 2 years at Mississippi State College for Women, to go to Washington and work for the Navy Department. It was there she met Larry, in 1949, while he was working for the Navy after serving during the War. After getting married, Doris worked for the Northern Virginia Bank, worked as a realtor at Crawford Long, and worked for the Army at Fort Belvoir.
Doris was always busy. She was an avid gardener and reader, an accomplished singer, piano player and seamstress, a talented painter and loved to travel. She was full of enthusiasm, confidence and wit, never afraid to speak her mind, always fun to be around, always ready to help anyone in need...she never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will be at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, VA on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
