Doris Tye Moseley 90, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, formerly of Eminence Kentucky, died peacefully in her sleep on August 21, 2017. Born January 25, 1927 in Lexington, Kentucky, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Thomas R. Moseley and by her parents, Ola Dowell Tye and William Walter Tye. Her sister, Jean Tye Gibbs and brothers, William W. Tye and Hiram Speed Tye also preceded her in death. Mrs. Moseley was a special education teacher and an avid gardener who loved the University of Kentucky – especially their basketball team (since her husband and son both played for the Wildcats). With Tom and many wonderful friends, Doris was very active in the Atlanta Chapter of the Kentucky Alumni Association where she served as president and representative to the national board. She was honored by the University as a Distinguished Alumni. She was also very proud to be a Kentucky Colonel. After teaching, Mrs. Moseley worked as an underwriter in the insurance industry. She was a courageous plaintiff in a very early successful class action lawsuit to combat gender bias in pay and promotions in a major company. This 1970’s action cost her a job, but was a source of great pride that she was part of the women’s movement toward more equal opportunity in the workplace. Survivors include her daughter Marcia Moseley Daniels of Clearwater, Florida and her son, Marc Robards Moseley (wife Laura) of Roswell Georgia. Her grandchildren include Christina Daniels Merrild (husband Ulrik) of Tampa, Hiram Daniels, Jr. (Tallon Anderson) of Clearwater and Victoria Hamilton of Roswell. Her great-grandchildren include Nicolai and Lukas Merrild and Vivian and Valencia Daniels with a new great-grandson due in November. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday August 26th at H.M. Patterson & Son - Arlington Chapel, located at 173 Allen Road NE., Sandy Springs, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Atlanta University of Kentucky Alumni Club - Tom Moseley Scholarship Fund. http://www.uky.edu/philanthropy/contact-us
