Dorothy was born 1944 in Queens, NY. Both she and her future husband graduated together at the same elementary school in 1958. They dated at 16 and married at 18. They became residents of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs, Georgia in 1978.
As a young mother she proudly and lovingly raised two children. As a grandmother, she cherished her five grandchildren and would do and give anything for them. She had a successful 20-year career in the hotel industry and retired as the reservations manager for a major hotel chain.
She was lovely - her smile, her face, her eyes - gorgeous. Not only was she beautiful on the outside, she was beautiful on the inside as well. Everyone who knew Dorothy appreciated her kindness, generosity and selflessness. She was a giver, not a taker. As the pillar of the family she provided advice, support, kindness, and will be so dearly missed. There is no replacement for the void created by her passing, but we can look back at the years she gave us with love and pride, and a profound appreciation for the happy memories, traditions, and the values she instilled in others.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Wayne Landman; daughter, Judy Landman; son, Robert Landman and his wife Annie; and grandchildren, Stephanie, Juliet and Daniel Schieder, Madeline and Thomas Landman; mother in law Joan Landman; brother in law Bruce Landman his wife Eleanor; nieces Sarah and Emma.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Graveside services will be Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
