Edgar B. “Ted” Davis, III passed away on April 29, 2025, at the age of 85. As we grieve this loss, we honor and remember Ted as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Ted was a man of unwavering faith, a gifted businessman, and devoted family man. His legacy of integrity, dedication, and generosity will forever remain in our hearts.
Ted was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, and attended Fairpark High School, where he excelled in both baseball and football. His high school baseball team achieved the remarkable feat of winning the state championship in 1957. More significantly, it was during this time that he met his high school sweetheart and future wife of 62 years, Annette. Ted pursued higher education at Louisiana Tech, graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He subsequently commenced his professional career with AMF Beard. In 1967, he accepted a position with Evans L. Shuff and Associates, prompting a relocation to Atlanta with his then young and growing family. Demonstrating a substantial entrepreneurial spirit, Ted founded Davis Energy Products, Inc. in 1987, alongside his wife, Annette.
Service was a significant part of Ted's life. He enlisted in the Air Force Reserves in April 1963 and served as a Fire Protection Specialist. Ted's love for God and Country was evident to those around him, leaving behind a legacy of great patriotism. He was always generous with his time and talents, serving as a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, Georgia. Ted and Annette cherished entertaining friends and family at their beloved lake house in Bear Paw Resort on Lake Hiwassee in North Carolina. Ted found immense joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren at this treasured place, creating lasting memories for generations.
Ted is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annette; his brother and sister, Pat Davis and Dodie Duncan; his children, Denise (Mike) Scarbrough, Debra (Guy) Lemke, and Steve (Becky) Davis; grandchildren, Jennifer Marsh, John Scarbrough, Travis Scarbrough, Kayla Lemke, Ryan Lemke and Madison Lemke; and eight great-grandchildren.
