

Everett Lee Roberts, 91, of Atlanta, GA, a beloved father, passed away Friday, July 22nd, 2016; born December 22nd, 1924 in Louisville, KY to Everett A. and Geneva Roberts. He was preceded in death by his one sister, Frances Roberts Goff. Raised in Louisville, Chicago, and Atlanta, Everett was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp as an aircraft mechanic on B-24’s. He was stationed at Rackheath airbase near Norwich, England as part of the 467th Heavy Bomb Group during the war. Upon returning to Atlanta after WWII, he met and married the love of his live, Marie Ellen (Roberts) on June 29th, 1946. It was their tradition to share gifts celebrating that date on the 29th of every month. Everett was preceded in death by Marie in April of 2014 after almost 68 years of marriage. Everett and Marie are survived by their daughter Alicia Roberts (husband Aubrey Hudson) of Atlanta, GA, their son Douglas Roberts (wife Claudia Roberts) of Los Angeles, CA, (niece that was like a daughter) Phyllis Allen, five grandchildren, Christopher Childress (wife Mandie Childress) of Chattanooga, TN, Richard Childress of Atlanta, GA, Louis Childress (wife Tonya Childress) of Ocean Springs, MS, Devin Roberts of Los Angeles, CA, Abigail Roberts of Los Angeles, CA, and three great-grandchildren, Everett Childress, Tyler Childress, and Hailey Childress. Everett graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1950. After college, he began working as an architect for the firm of John W. Cherry, Architect eventually becoming a partner and ultimately owning the firm. As one of his many projects, Everett designed the Decatur School of Ballet facility for his wife in 1958. Everett retired from architecture in 2001. Per his request, there will be a simple graveside service on Tuesday, July 26th 2016 at 2PM at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt Vernon Hwy, NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 | 404-255-0750. There will be a gathering and remembrance for family and friends at a nearby restaurant afterwards, location TBD.
