George Pasquale Gaccione, age 86, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, George lived a life defined by curiosity, generosity, and a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and learning.
Born to George and Lucy Gaccione and raised in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, George carried his Italian heritage with pride throughout his life.
He earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University.
George spent the majority of his professional life with M&M Mars, where he held a variety of engineering, manufacturing and leadership roles. Throughout his career he traveled extensively and relocated from New Jersey to Albany, Georgia in 1980 where he spent the next 21 years before retiring. Known for his calm leadership, sharp mind, and thoughtful problem-solving, he was widely respected by colleagues and peers.
After retirement from Mars as an Engineering Director in 2001, George embraced life with the same enthusiasm he brought to his career. He could often be found on the golf course, at the gym, woodworking or tending to his garden. He and his beloved wife Geraldine greatly enjoyed traveling the country to visit their many friends and family, creating memories and connections that lasted a lifetime. A devoted reader, especially of the daily newspaper, George had a lifelong passion for history and stayed thoughtfully engaged with the world around him.
Above all else, George cherished his family. He was a loving and steadfast husband to Geraldine, standing faithfully by her side throughout her more than 40-year battle with cancer, offering unwavering care, strength, and devotion. He was a proud father to Jeffrey and David Gaccione and a loving father-in-law to Lisa and Betsy. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, Alexander, Vincent, and Owen, whom he adored and supported in every way.
George was also known for his service, generosity and compassion. He served on multiple nonprofit boards, community boards and regularly volunteered for Habitat for Humanity while also quietly supporting numerous charitable causes over the years. He would also drop everything to help make repairs for friends and family who needed a hand. His warmth, wisdom, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his sons Jeffrey and David, their spouses Betsy and Lisa, his grandchildren Alexander, Vincent, and Owen, his sisters, Marion Spann and Barbara DeMassi as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family he greatly adored. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Gaccione and his parents, George and Lucy.
