

George Holden, Jr., age 88, of Atlanta, died Thursday, November 21, 2013. He was born in St. Augustine, FL, raised in Jacksonville, served in the Navy, and received a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Univ. of FL. He married his childhood sweetheart, Wilburta “Billie” Trout and was blessed with 57 years of marriage. He established George Holden & Assoc. in Atlanta. He was very active in his church, choir and RWA. He was also active in Silver Wings and the Sons of The American Revolution. He & Billie had and are survived by one son and two daughters: son, Richard George & his wife, Mary Jean, his daughter, Heather Salter, her husband, Kenneth, & their two children, Ayla & Violet; daughter, Sheron Angell, her husband, E.W. Chip & their children: Bryce & his wife, Karissa & their daughter, Madison and son, Cooper, Olivia Thurston, her husband, Douglas, Cary, Aaron, Elias and his wife, Karilynn, Asher & Antoinette; daughter, Deborah Payne & her husband, Jeff, & their two sons, Cougar and Cody. After his wife passed away, he was remarried to Shannon Vale who predeceased him. He will be remembered by his devotion to his family, his attention to detail, and his whimsical sense of humor. Special thanks to the kind people at Sunrise Senior Living at Huntcliff Summitt, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and Beverly Huley. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be sent to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 850 Mt. Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30327. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 3 o’clock at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
