I was shocked to learn of Gerry's death today when I read the Northwestern Univ. magazine. Gerry was a especially kind and good friend so many years ago in Evanston. My prayers go out to all of his family. He was truly one of the nicest people I have known. God must have needed another angel.

Joan & Family I know Roger probably expressed this to you when he saw you at the memorial but Gerry was one of the most influential people in his life. Roger always admired Gerry both as a mentor and as a friend. He appreciated what a good person he was. How many times since those Arthur Anderson days in the 1970s he has reminded me how much he admired Gerry and how if it hadn't been for him Roger's career path would have been so different. He was truly shaken when he learned of Gerry's death and I am so thankful he was able to come to Atlanta. Sincerely, Lawnie Conlon Minneapolis

Mrs. Joan and Kebby - I was literally stunned today when I heard about Gerry. I love the picture you chose to share, as his smile is just as I remember him. I know how special he was to everyone - most importantly his family. My thoughts are with you all.
"Neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
While Gerry delights in His presence, may God grant you peace and comfort during this time of mourning.

It was with great sadness we heard of Gerry's passing. We so enjoyed visiting with Gerry at the class reunion in August. He was always fun. Merijo attended St. Mary's with Gerry and has many fond memories from those days. She knew his parents and always thought of them as a special family. We will keep Gerry's family in our prayers and thoughts. Gerry will be missed.

Gerry was a great classmate and person. At the 55th reunion, he was the most distinguished member, so youthful and poised. It was good to read that he had such a rich life. Some tennis, jogging, skiing and traveling do wonders. With fond regards,

October 22, 2012
Hello Joan, Todd Szalkowski here. I just heard from my brother Michael about Gerry. My prayers are for you and your family, for a supernatural peace that comes from knowing that Gerry is with his creator in paradise today. Gerry was my mentor. He was the most important person in my development as a tax professional and business person in general. Gerry invested his life in me. He discipled me. I am forever grateful for his friendship and his confidence in me.
I left public accounting several years ago to become a church planting missionary, but still use lessons that I learned from Gerry even today.
I have a smile on my face today remembering my time with Gerry.

Joan & Family,
Please understand that Gerry will be sorely missed by all of his running buddies. We gathered for our traditional Thursday breakfast today without him and it was obvious, that everyone was devastated by the news of his passing. Each person in the group called him a friend. He was particularly admired for his gentlemanly manor that was always on display and the quick wit and humor that were his constant companion. We all loved to discuss finance, investments and politics with him and trust me when I say, “When Gerry talked, his Running Buddies listened”. We all pray that God will grant you and your family the strength to navigate your way through this most difficult period. Please feel free to call anyone of us at anytime to be of assistance.
With deepest condolences,
Pat Harkins and Running Buddies

Gerry was a running and golfing buddy. He was almost always in a good mood and always wanted me to bet against Northwestern when they played Ohio State. I won most of those $10 bets. He was almost always in a good mood and I'll always smile when I think about him. We will miss him.
