Gloria Joan Smith

Gloria Joan Smith, 82, of Atlanta, GA passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at LaFayette Nursing Home, Fayetteville, GA. Family will receive friends and family at 1pm on Sunday, June 8, 2014, for visitation and a service will follow at 2pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, Sandy Springs, GA. Pastor David Keen, Joan’s grandson, will officiate. Family will meet graveside at 3:30pm Crestlawn Memorial Park, 2000 Marietta Blvd, NE, Atlanta. Joan was born in Atlanta the daughter of Walter B. Meador and Ruby Louise Lunsford Meador. She was a graduate of Bass High School and worked for Sears and Rich’s Department Stores receiving recognition for sales and service. During her life she was loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, a talented artist, a Girl Scout leader, a Christian friend too many and a member of Roswell Street Baptist, Marietta, GA, and Westwood Baptist, Spartanburg, SC. Joan is survived by her three daughters, Linda Thomas and husband, Bruce, of Woodstock, GA, Shirley Lane and husband, David, of Snellville, GA, and Debra Keen of Fayetteville, GA, eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Coker, of Snellville, GA. She is also survived by her two brothers and their wives, Olin and Marie Conn of Winder, GA and Bobby and Diana Conn of Loganville, GA.
