Greg was born November 12, 1966 in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Judith Kane, the second of four brothers. During childhood Greg lived in Miami, Atlanta, Northern Virginia, and Los Angeles, before returning again to Atlanta where he spent his adult life.
His Irish Catholic family heritage and extensive, close-knit, family tree were a strong influence on Greg’s life. Greg and his brothers shared an unbreakable brotherly bond. Greg resided with his parents, Joseph and Judith, for the last decade, caring for them in their later years as best he could, and he never failed to bring his humor and his love of cooking to every family gathering.
One of Greg's passions was in cooking, whether he was serving his community with the Knights of Columbus, preparing a feast for Thanksgiving with family, or working in restaurants in Dunwoody. He was also a lifelong fan of sports, from football to baseball (go Dodgers)!
Greg and his father were very active with the Knights of Columbus, All Saints Council, and Greg earned the rank of fourth degree Sir Knight. He was the proud recipient of the Knight of the Month award in recognition of his dedicated service at nearly every community event at the church, an example of his genuine spirit of service and love.
Comfort is found in knowing Greg and his parents, both also recently deceased, are all reunited in heaven. Greg is remembered by his family and friends for his optimism, his cheerful nature, his humor and laughter, and his joy in serving his community, family, and friends in any way he could.
Greg is survived by his three brothers, Christopher (and Susan) of Seattle, WA; Timothy (and Jenny), and Jason of Atlanta, GA; former spouse Alison of Dunwoody, GA; nieces Shannon, Melissa, and Kristen; nephew and godson Jonathon; great-nieces Sofia and Vivian; uncle and godfather Douglas of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph John Kane and Judith Jean (Chapman) Kane, of Dunwoody, GA.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, January 20th, 2023 at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA, at 2:00pm.
