June 24, 1948 – July 14, 2025
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Harold Kent Cumbie on July 14, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 77 years old and passed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Joan Bussey Cumbie; his children, Jennifer Cumbie Davis (Kevin) and Michael Kent Cumbie; and his cherished grandchildren, Harper Presley Davis, Raylan Kent Cumbie, and Holden Kent Davis. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Gina Bussey, niece Allison Peavy, nephew John Bussey, and his loyal four-legged companion, Prince, a Siberian Forest Cat.
Born on June 24 in Auburn, Alabama, Harold lived a life defined by service, ambition, and unwavering love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, where he cultivated the discipline and sense of duty that shaped the rest of his life. After his service, he earned his Master’s degree from Auburn University, an achievement he deeply treasured—especially during football season.
A man of remarkable drive and entrepreneurial spirit, Harold founded and led several successful businesses throughout his career. He made his mark in the apparel industry, then built the largest Commercial Restroom Hygiene franchise on the East Coast. His work ethic was unmatched, his generosity ever-present, and his mentorship deeply valued by many.
Outside of work, Harold found great joy in the game of golf. He was a longtime member of ClubCorp, including The Manor and White Columns Country Clubs. Whether playing a round with friends or watching a tournament from his favorite chair, golf brought him peace. Yet, nothing compared to the pride and devotion he felt for his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and his legacy of love and laughter will live on through them. He never missed a sporting event, cheerleading performance, dance recital, or a moment to support the people he loved most. He was known affectionately by many names—Harry, Daddy, Dada, Mimi-Dada, and Pappa—each representing a bond, a memory, and a life well lived.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son – Arlington Chapel. Family will welcome guests starting at 12pm. Entombment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
Harold’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and honorable veteran.
