

Helen Kibler Browning, 91, of Champaign, Illinois passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013. She was born June 18, 1922 in Savannah, Georgia to Charles Pinckney and Margaret ONeal Kibler. She was attending Armstrong College when she met and married Arthur Wolfe Browning of Cochran, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, her son Charles Kibler Browning, grandson, Charles Kibler Browning, Jr. and her sister Kathleen Chambers. Surviving are two sons, Arthur W. (Debbie) Browning, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; Zachary David (Martha) Browning of Champaign, IL; 7 grandchildren, Constance Browning of Atlanta, Dodd of Chicago, Kyle and Clark of Champaign, Brooke (Chad) Watridge and Tripp (Dorothy) Browning of Jacksonville, Fl. and 4 great grand-children. Helen and Arthur moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1946, where she remained until 1999. She was a charter member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. At age 47, Helen graduated from Oglethorpe University, Summa cum laude, and began her teaching career in the Fulton County school system. She moved to Champaign, Illinois in 1999 to be with family. Helen joined First Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon and choir member. Helen loved The Lord, her dear family and many friends, music, opera, theater, sports, and playing bridge. The funeral service will be held at the graveside at Arlington Memorial Park at 3:00PM on Sunday, September 1st. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
