Mike grew up in the mountains of North Carolina and was a graduate of Murphy High School. Mike went on to graduate from Western Carolina University in 1972 and later served in the Navy with the Seabees in Pensacola, FL.
After completing his military service, Mike began a career in the insurance industry. He later founded Mike Hill & Associates, which he successfully owned and operated for 42 years. Through his work, Mike built not only a successful business, but also many lasting professional and personal relationships.
Mike shared his life with his devoted wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Hill. They were together for 42 years and married for 28. Their many years together were filled with companionship, love, and a lifetime of shared memories.
Those who knew Mike well remember him for his love of cars, especially Corvettes. He was also a huge animal lover and had numerous canine companions throughout his life. Mike was a patriotic man and loved history. He was particularly proud of his heritage and was a member of The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) as well as The Sons of Confederate Veterans.
In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his three sisters in law, Shirley Hill of Cleveland, GA, Kathy Hill of Blairsville, GA, Mary Nelson of Dalton, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Guy Hill & Martha Floriede (Henson) Hill; his two brothers Ronald Guy Hill, Sr., and Stephen Edward Hill, and his sister, Martha Jane (Hill) Garrison.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 14th at 11:30 am. The funeral service will take place at 12:30 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel with a reception to follow at the same location.
The committal service will be held on Monday, August 17th in Murphy, North Carolina. Mike will be laid to rest next to his father in the Hill family plot.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Atlanta Humane Society.
