Iasammy Francis Moonsammy, fondly known as “Fran” “Daddy” “Papa” “Boss Man” and “Sammy” of Georgetown Guyana and Tucker GA, USA, passed away peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on October 19th, 2021 at the age of 73. Born on September 23, 1948, he was the 3rd of eight children to the late Joseph and Grace Moonsammy

Francis is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Esther Moonsammy.

Their children: Petal D’Avilar, Victor D’Avilar, Sharon Kissoon, Marcel Hoosain, Edwin Moonsammy, Serena Young and Simone Smith and The Late Richard Moonsammy

Grandchildren: Carolina D”Avilar, Victor D’Avilar, Alistair D’Avilar, Alexander D’Avilar, Andrew D’Avilar, Anthony D’Avilar,Ashley Kissoon. Melinda Kissoon and Meyonka Kissoon. Andre Hoosain, Aviana Hoosain and the late Adrian Hoosain. Aleena Moonsammy, Annessa Moonsammy, Antonio Moonsammy, Asenna Moonsammy, Tewgwen Moonsammy, Alwina Moonsammy and Ashwina Moonsammy. Adam Young and Isabella Young. Athena Smith and seven great grandchildren.

Sons and Daughters in Law: Shawn D’Avilar, Simeon Kissoon, Sunil Hoosain, Alison Moonsammy, Jacob Young and Bryan Smith.

Siblings: Evelyn Narine, Agnes Moonsammy, Patrick Moonsammy and Gerald Moonsammy, Mary Balram, The Late Edwin Moonsammy and Late Micheal Moonsammy.

Brothers-in-Law and Sisters-in-Law: Mario King, Pauline Swammy, Monica Hunt, Gerald Hunt, Ronald Hunt, Richard Hunt, the Late Walter Hunt, Yvonne Hunt, Claire Hunt and Anita Hunt. Basil Narine, Jane Moonsammy and Deo Balram.

Nieces and Nephews: Monica Narine & Sibling, Gail Simon & Sibling, Joseph Moonsammy & Sibling, Dwayne Moonsammy & Siblings, Derrick Moonsammy & Siblings, Shondell Thompkins & Sibling, Vonetta Gariba & Siblings;

Relatives: The Moonsammy’s, The Hunts, The Mootoo’s, The Gariba’s, The Khan’s.

Friends: The Gritten’s, Hinds’, Viera’s, Nester’s, Modeste, Marcelo’s and Maristela’s, The MARTA and Holy Spirit Preparatory School Family and many more too numerous to mention.

Francis recently retired after many years of service as a Railcar Mechanic and MARTA.

He was self-employed for all of his formative years. Moonsammy’s Mechanic Shop and Garage and restauranteur; (Mastian’s Restaurant) both in Georgetown Guyana.

Francis attended Carmel Roman Catholic School, Georgetown Guyana and The University of Oxford, Oxford England in their correspondence program in which he excelled.

Francis’ Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday October 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Dr. NW, Atlanta Georgia 30327
