J. Douglas Chitty, of Atlanta died August 1, 2013. Mr. Chitty was born in Moultrie, Georgia May 31, 1925. He graduated Moultrie High School and entered Junior College after which he was employed by the US Air Force for a short period. He was a World War II veteran and subsequently served in Europe with Combat Engineers, crossing the English Channel and entering France at Normandy. He continued through France, the Battle of the Bulge and on into Berlin, Germany from the West while Russian Forces entered from the East at which time Germany fell to the Allied Forces. After the War he established residence in Atlanta in 1947 and became employed by Texaco, Inc., where he met his lovely wife of 38 years, Ann Raines Chitty, who preceded him in death in January, 1988. They both retired from Texaco, Inc., after 35 years of service. They both were members of Mount Paran Church of God. He is survived by his sister, Voncille C. Freeland, Acworth, GA, and his closest friend, Mr. Ted Bramlett and his wife, Jean of Whitesburg, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11 o’clock at Mount Paran Church of God. Entombment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
