Jack Clinton “Clint” Fairchild Jr. passed away at his home in Atlanta, GA on July 4th, 2026. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 20th, 1949. Clint attended Morris Brandon Elementary and graduated from Northside High School class of 1967. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of environmental design from the University of Oklahoma in 1973. Clint was a member of SAE Fraternity.
He was a dedicated member of the St. Anne’s Episcopal Church-- spending time on the Vestry, serving on the Terrace Board of Directors, and as a frequent Usher. He was also a member of the St. Anne’s Men’s Book Club. Clint was a man devoted to his faith, which he actively observed at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in fellowship with many great friends and a loving community to which he truly belonged.
Professionally, he was a member of the American Institute of Architects, US Green Building Council, National Council of Architectural Registration boards, and American Society for Testing Materials. Clint was an encouraging mentor to many. He was a member of Rotary International at the Midtown Atlanta Club as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Clint was interested in building from a young age, preferring to spend his free time perfecting his model train and metal erector kits. As a teenager he had an Atlanta Journal-Constitution bike delivery route. As a young man, he caravaned in a Volkswagen bus which led him to Estes Park, Colorado, where met his beloved wife Barbara. While living in the west, he loved to camp and hike in Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone National Parks, and skiing the steepest inclines he could find. In 1985 Clint decided to return to Atlanta, GA.
He worked for Tipton Masterson Associates Inc, Rosser International, and HEERY International, Inc where he spent 20 years. He received many Certificates of Merit from AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice. Among his notable and award winning projects are Broward County Courthouse, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Dekalb County Courthouse, Decatur, GA; and Youth Prototype Facilities in Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston, SC. In his words, he "enjoyed working on modern civic projects with timeless architecture creating monumental, clean-lined buildings." He consulted after retirement for Epsten Group of Atlanta, GA notably on the new Elephant Barn and Savanna Expansion project for the Atlanta Zoo.
Clint is preceded in death by his father Jack Clinton Fairchild Sr, mother Mary Payne Baldwin Fairchild, and brother Ludwell Baldwin Fairchild. He is survived by his wife Barbara Baldwin Fairchild, daughter Jessica Baldwin Fairchild and son in law Peter Rached, granddaughter Diana Lee Fairchild, his brother Inman Payne Fairchild and sister in law Carolyn Stoolfire Fairchild, sister-in-law Kathy Fairchild, and many lovely nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, July 25th at 2 PM, with reception to follow.
Clint was a kind, generous gentleman who was devoted to his family. He was married to his beloved wife Barbara for 46 years. He loved spending time with his only daughter Jessica and granddaughter Diana when visiting them in Colorado or at the beach. He will be remembered for his never-ending kindness, immense patience, strong dedication to his family, and deep devotion. He leaves us these words of wisdom: “for those of my family and friends whom I leave behind, know that I love you. I have had a good life in experience of fulfillment in time and continued personal growth. I have always loved to create things. With Love, Goodbye.”
