An entrepreneur from an early age, Jimmy co-founded Universal Data Consultants in 1984 with a childhood friend, realizing a dream the two had shared since they were just 12 years old. They grew the computer consulting firm successfully until its sale to GE Capital in 1996, where Jimmy went on to serve as President of Network Services. His entrepreneurial spirit continued throughout his life through numerous successful business and charitable ventures. As much as Jimmy enjoyed success himself, he took tremendous pleasure in seeing others succeed and was generous with his knowledge, encouragement and support.
Jimmy’s professional accomplishments, however, tell only part of his story. He lived life to the fullest. Jimmy traveled extensively for both business and pleasure, loved to ski, and had a lifelong passion for music and an impressive song collection to match. A natural storyteller with an infectious sense of humor, he could light up a room with his stories and jokes. Above all, Jimmy cherished his family and friends, and for those fortunate enough to know him, he was truly one of a kind—a legend whose life was every bit as unforgettable as the man himself.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Marcus Dasher Stewart, and is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Erika Elliott; daughter, Bretton Elaine Elliott (Paul Meirowitz); sons, James Davis Elliott, Jr. (Eugenia) and Stephen Patrick Elliott (Isabella); grandchildren, Madison and Hudson Meirowitz; brothers, Stephen Lanier Stewart (Debbie) and Robert Sidney Elliott (Janet); and his cherished dog, Shea.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation. A memorial service followed by a reception will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son–Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd. NE, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328.
