On Thursday, December 22, Jan Laine, a loved wife and mother passed away. She was 76 years old at the time of her passing from complications of dementia and COVID-19. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and spent most of her life living in Atlanta, GA.
Jan had a flair for presentation: table settings, gift wrap, and the flowers in her guest rooms were all her way of making moments beautiful and welcoming. She loved to laugh with family. Her favorite moments were spent throwing bocce ball at a park, playing cards, or laying on a beach vacationing with family. Give her some downtime with her kids and grandkids, and she was content. She read avidly. She could tear through a huge stack of library books every week and go back for more. The invention of the Kindle made her reading limitless (although she doubted she would like it at first).
Quality time was her love language followed directly by gifting. Knowing that she loved tulips best, Godiva chocolate, and self-care meant you could win her heart with a single gift. She also gave countless hours to making Halloween costumes by hand, finding the perfect gifts for her grandkids and kids, coaching Odyssey of the Mind teams, and praying earnestly for those she loved. a
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill, and their daughters, Laurie and Tambryn. She is cherished by her grandchildren: Ashley, Cory, Halee, Donovan, and Colin as well as her great-grandchildren Kennedy and Keaton. Her service will be held on January 21 at 10 a.m. at Dunwoody United Methodist Church in their chapel with a visitation to follow at 11 in the Parlor.
