Jane Lauer Maddox, who battled cancer for six and a half years with a strong spirit and a positive attitude, died at home on Saturday, May 31, 2014. She was 54 years old. Jane was born in Syracuse, New York. She lived in Philadelphia and Chicago before moving to Atlanta. She graduated from Dunwoody High School, attended Sweet Briar College for two years and received her degree in Accounting from the University of Georgia. After devoting her time to raising her boys, Jane, who was a CPA, worked in a variety of careers, including her own business, Lady Jane’s Cakes. Most recently Jane was the office manager for The Jordan Company. She is survived by her husband Lamar Maddox; sons Clarke and John Maddox; parents John and Carolyn Lauer; sister Amy Lauer Alcorn (Wright); brother-in-law Joel Maddox (Laura); nephews Will and Kipp Maddox and Graham Alcorn; nieces Katie Maddox and Emily Jane Alcorn; as well as a legion of friends, all of whom will miss her very much. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chapman Cancer Wellness at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, c/o Piedmont Healthcare Foundation, 2001 Peachtree Rd., NE, suite 400, Atlanta, GA 30309. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June sixth, at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
