
Janet Kempton Goodman of Atlanta passed away on October 6, 2015 at the age of 91. She was a graduate of Barnard College. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and is survived by her husband, Edwin F. Goodman, her two sons, Donald W. Goodman and Stephen D. Goodman, daughter-in-law, Laura R. Bickett and granddaughter, Andrea J. Goodman. Janet loved the study of the Bible and taught Sunday School at St. John United Methodist Church for over twenty years. She enjoyed playing bridge and had special fondness for antique furniture and German Shepherds. One of her hobbies and passions was genealogy. She was the state historian for the Georgia Mayflower Society for many years and was dedicated to helping over 100 applicants join. She was also a long-time member of the PEO and DAR. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral services will be Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11 o’clock at St. John United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
